The Progress D-18T (or Lotarev D-18T) is a three-shaft, high-bypass turbofan engine rated at more than of thrust and designed to power very large transport aircraft. ==Design and development== The engine was designed by the Ivchenko-Progress Design Bureau and is manufactured by Motor Sich factory in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. It was the first engine in the USSR that could deliver more than 20,000 kgf (~196 kN or ~44,000 lbf) of thrust. * September 19, 1980 - first start of a full-scale engine. * December 24, 1982 - An-124 maiden flight. * December 19, 1985 – engine passes official bench tests.
